A network of eight Rwandan institutions compose the nodes of the CoE. The nodes work to implement CoE programs.
The nodes of the CoE are: NIRDA (former IRST), RAB (former ISAR), CST (a part of the former NUR and former KIST), CE (former KIE), CAVM (part of the former NUR and former ISAE), KRC, and IGCP.
The nodes address specific functions in relation to their capacities, competencies and resources. Specifically, the nodes focus on:
- Human Resource Development: develop the necessary human resources at various levels for sustainable biodiversity exploitation and management
- Research: conduct scientific investigations on the biodiversity resources of Rwanda to generate new knowledge
Bioprospecting and Development of Biodiversity Products and Innovations: find (new) uses for biodiversity resources and develop specific products and innovations for commercialization.
- Conservation: Production of necessary knowledge for sustainable use and conservation of Rwandan biodiversity
