Venant Nzibaza holds a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Conservation from the University of Rwanda (UR). His bachelor’s thesis was entitled “Fecal Contamination of Water Sources in and Around Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda”. He did his final year project under the financial support provided by the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International in its program of supporting competent students in conservation program at UR. After his graduation, he joined the University of Rwanda Center of Excellence in Biodiversity and Natural Resources Management (CoEB) as a professional intern and later, he became Research Fellow, the position he holds until today. Among his key roles in the CoEB, Venant organize events such as conferences, workshops and trainings. He also assists in different projects of the CoEB. He currently manages the University of Rwanda postgraduate students research grants under the Landscape Approach to Forest Restoration and Conservation (LAFREC) Project and another on Ecosystem-based Adaptation. Both projects are being implemented in collaboration with Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA). He also produces reports of events and regular reports for the
CoEB. Venant is also pursuing his master’s degree in Biodiversity Conservation and Natural resources Management. He is conducting his research for his thesis under the title “Role of Riparian Zone in Community Climate Change Resilience at Lake Rwakibare, Kayonza, Rwanda”. His research interest is around climate change, riparian zone and water quality.
